DoveLewis Overview
Founded in 1973, DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is a non-profit, AAHA-accredited and VECCS Level 1-certified client focused teaching hospital in beautiful Portland, Oregon. As a teaching hospital, DoveLewis offers unique learning opportunities in addition to a significant (approximately 30K patients per year) and diverse case load. Our growing multispecialty team, staff doctors, technicians, and support staff work as a team that values great communication and the common goal of helping clients in their time of need. Dove currently has a specialty practice that includes Cardiology, Critical Care, Neurology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Radiology and Surgery. The hospital also has an on-site MRI, CRRT and CT equipment.
As a nonprofit, DoveLewis provides donor-funded programs to the community, including one of the US’s largest volunteer-based animal blood banks, a nationally recognized pet loss support program, an animal-assisted therapy program, education of veterinary professionals and the animal-loving community, 24-hour stabilizing care for lost, stray, and wild animals, and financial assistance for qualifying low-income families and abused animals.
DoveLewis is an accredited teaching hospital and teaching and learning are part of our day-to-day routine. Practice your skills in a wet lab, broaden your knowledge at a lecture and make a difference in the level of education available to animals all over the world. atDove is our online, veterinary continuing education and training website/platform. With over 500 procedural videos and 30k members, atDove is a leader in providing veterinary education worldwide.
We are grateful for the support of a committed donor for helping us expand our facility so we can meet the needs of more animals in our community. This new building expansion will be directly across the street from our front doors, and design work is underway with local architects to plan for a building that will double our clinical space (bringing our clinical space to over 40K square feet), improve resources for current services and create a foundation for future opportunities.
Position Overview
This Senior Director of Medicine and Quality is a new role within the organization and will report directly to the Chief of Staff. The SDMQ (Senior Director of Medicine and Quality) is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to effectively enhance DoveLewis’ standard of care. This position encourages a work environment that fosters teamwork and exemplary customer service to fulfill the mission and vision of DoveLewis. The SDMQ is a member of the hospital management team. This is a critical role for the organization as Dove is currently in the process of expanding their hospital once again. Through this new expansion the hospital will have over 40K square feet of clinical space in a campus setting.
